Parade
to feature lighted floats

Marion residents can enjoy the community’s first lighted Christmas parade since 2014 at 6 p.m. Saturday.

An array of holiday happenings will fill the day before the parade, starting at 7 a.m. with registration for an Ugly Sweater Reindeer Run. Registration will be at Marion Community Center.

Next up is an 8 a.m. Boy Scout pancake feed.

After pancakes, a Jingle Junk Sale will begin at 9 a.m. in the community center and last until 4 p.m.

Kids can visit Santa at Marion City Library from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Also starting at 10 a.m., CB Baked Goods will have cookie decorating until 6 p.m.

Girl Scouts will serve chili and soup from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the community center.

Also at 11 a.m., live reindeer will be on display at the Historic Elgin Hotel parking lot.

Marion Historical Museum will have an Old Fashioned Christmas from noon to 4 p.m.

Downtown businesses will have an Elf on the Shelf scavenger hunt. Participants can pick up a card at any business, find the Elf in that business, and turn the completed card in to CB Baked Goods for a prize.

Yazel-Megli-Zeiner Funeral Homes will serve cookies and hot chocolate from 2 to 5 pm.

Dinner will be served at Elgin from 4 to 9 p.m. A live nativity scene will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Bicycle decoration for the Christmas parade will be 5 p.m. at the Baptist Church.
