ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

June 21 — A patient released from Hillsboro Community Hospital received a ride home. A resident’s question about permits to carry a concealed weapon was answered. The welfare of a resident of the 400 block of N. Ash St. was checked. A ticket was issued in a traffic accident at 180th and Indigo Rds., but the report was filed with the sheriff’s office, which has not yet released it.

June 22 — A trespasser reportedly stole items from an impounded vehicle at an Auto House lot without paying towing and impound fees. Tickets were issued for driving with an expired license and in violation of restrictions after police stopped a vehicle from which youths were setting off fireworks.

Thursday — Baby skunks were reported nesting in a window well in the 900 block of E. C St. Police checked and found no problems after a viewer became concerned about the welfare of a person live streaming on TikTok. An open door in the 700 block of S. Main St. was investigated. Police discussed a civil issue involving a woman and a former boyfriend in the 400 block of W. Grand Ave.

Friday — A woman complained that she thought someone might have placed cameras in her residence. Police answered questions about driver’s licenses and student surveys and stood by during a civil matter in the 400 block of W. Grand Ave.

Saturday — Skunks were in reported in a window well in the 900 block of E. D St., near where they previously had been reported. More skunks were reported in the 900 block of E. C St. A report of a missing person was relayed to Wichita police. A resident’s complaint that he was being followed was relayed to the sheriff’s department as the person was near Newton at the time. A driver was warned for speeding on US-56. Police checked on a suspicious person in the 300 block of S. Cedar St.

Sunday — A driver was warned for running a stop sign at Lincoln and B Sts. A resident reported seeing a possibly fake ID turned, but it turned out to be legitimate. Police checked on an upset child screaming and yelling in the 200 block of S. Main St. A resident reported being harassed in the 300 block of N. Washington St. A white and black husky running free was picked up at Casey’s General Store and taken to Hillsboro Animal Clinic. Police helped a woman looking for directions.

MARION

June 20 — Joshua Bradley, 37, Downs, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and distribution after a traffic stop on US-56 near Ridge Rd. In separate incidents, two other drivers were warned for speeding. A caller inquired about nuisance letters for overgrown lawns and the like sent to property owners.

June 21 — Police took no action after meeting with people involved in a disturbance at an unspecified location in the 900 block of E. Main St. That block is home to Marion County Food Bank, HRK Variety Store, TC’s What-Not Shop, and St. Luke Hospital’s Main St. Clinic.

June 22 — A dog running free in the 500 block of Walnut St. was taken to Animal Health Center. Police talked to a young person riding a bike downtown after dark. Officers returned a call in regard to trespassing.

Thursday — A driver failed to pay for fuel at Ampride. Police talked to two juveniles riding all-terrain vehicles or go carts in the 300 block of S. Freeborn St. Police heard a report of possible harassment.

Friday — A driver accidentally drove into a ditch near Main and Thorp Sts. Two other drivers were warned for speeding. A vehicle was found with its lights on in the 100 block of W. Main St.

Saturday — A dog running free in the 300 block of N. Cedar St. was taken to Animal Health Center. A dog was reported missing from the 500 block of N. Lincoln St. A driver was warned for speeding.

Sunday — A debit card turned in to police was returned to its owner. Possible violation of an order of protection was reported.
