ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
March 17 — A disconnected 911 call from the 200 block of N. Jefferson St. proved to be a “pocket dial.”
March 18 — Police attempted to repair wind damage to a departmental storage shed and investigated what turned out to be a false alarm near 190th and Kanza Rds.
March 19 — A wire down was determined to be a TV cable.
Thursday — A resident had questions about city laws concerning dogs. Police worked with Department of Children and Families on an investigation.
Friday — Police dealt with a complaint about a barking dog in the 100 block of S. Ash St. and checked on several vehicles parked in Memorial Park after curfew. Drivers were warned for texting while driving in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. and for making a J-turn on Main St.
Saturday — Drivers were ticketed for speeding in the 600 and 1000 blocks of S. Ash St. A juvenile stopped for having a defective tag light in the 1000 block of S. Ash St. was released to parents pending referral of an underage drinking complaint to the county attorney’s office.
Sunday — A resident complained of a skunk odor in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St.
MARION
March 17 — A window was reported broken in the 100 block of Elm St. Police could not catch a dog loose in the 300 block of Elm St. An animal complaint also was made in the 300 block of N. 3rd St. A scam was reported in the 1000 block of Industrial St. Drivers were warned for speeding near Main and Billings Sts. and for having a defective license tag light near US-56 and Industrial St.
March 18 — Police gave a ride to a person coming from St. Luke Clinic. Drivers were warned for having a defective headlight near Main and Santa Fe Sts. and for having a defective tag light near Main and Roosevelt Sts. Police watched US-56 for a vehicle that fled from a Hillsboro officer. No problems were found in checking on a report of suspicious activity in the 1000 block of Industrial St.
March 19 — At a homebuyer’s request, police checked a house being purchased in the 800 block of E. Main St., just east of Marion High and Middle Schools, for drugs. A dog loose in the 500 block of N. Cedar St. was taken to a veterinary clinic. A disturbance reported in the 300 block of N. 3rd St. calmed after police arrived. A driver was warned for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St.
Thursday — A teenager who had been hiding under a truck in the 300 block of E. Santa Fe St. as part of a game was warned to stay off private property.
Friday — No problems were found in checking on a report of suspicious activity on Victory Ln. Drivers were warned for having defective tag lights in the 300 block of S. Roosevelt St. and near Cedar and Sherman Sts. and for having a defective taillight near Roosevelt and Maple Sts.
Saturday — Police couldn’t catch a dog loose near Cedar and Weldon Sts. A resident of the 300 block of Locust St. talked to police about a civil issue. Drivers were warned for having defective tag lights near US-56 and Timber Rd. and near Main and 4th Sts.
Sunday — Police talked to two residents about an issue with their roommate.
