ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Oct. 6 — No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 200 block of S. Lincoln St.

Oct. 7 — Police provided active-shooter training at Hillsboro Industries, met with a resident about a civil matter, and helped clear cattle from US-56 at K-15 / Bison Rd. No problems were found in checking on a report of suspicious activity at Tabor College.

Oct. 8 — Police investigated an unattended death at Oakwood Manor apartments, enforced curfew at Hillsboro Sports Complex, and found no problems in checking on a person at Tabor College.

Thursday — Police checked on a resident of the 300 block of W. Grand Ave., helped place security cameras on city property, and met with children at city hall for story-time event. A driver was warned for speeding on US-56.

Friday — Police participated in a chase along Ash St. that entered the county on K-15 to the north and exited on Indigo Rd. to the south. They also investigated a wreck in the 200 block of S. Washington St. and helped a resident with a civil issue.

Saturday — Police were called to provide an independent investigation of an accident in which a sheriff’s deputy hit a deer at 130th and Eagle Rds. A driver was orally warned about an equipment violation.

Sunday — Routine activities.

MARION

Oct. 6 — A complaint from a resident was determined by police to be a civil issue. A collision in the Sports and Aquatics Center parking lot was investigated, but no report was released because the wreck occurred on school property. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 100 block of E. Main St. Drivers at Main and Cedar Sts. and at US-56 and Cedar St. were warned for an equipment violation and speeding.

Oct. 7 — A runaway juvenile at Marion Middle School was turned over to juvenile authorities. A resident visited the police station to report a disturbance, but police determined that no crime had been committed. A trespassing complaint in the 300 block of N. Freeborn St. was resolved without incident.

Oct. 8 — Police determined no problems existed after a resident talked to them about an old property dispute in the 300 block of N. Cedar St. A driver was warned for an equipment violation at US-56 and Industrial St.

Thursday — Police determined no crime had been committed after investigating a landlord / tenant dispute in the 300 block of S. Cedar St.

Friday — A person visited the police station to report harassment, but police determined that no crime had been committed. They also dealt with an out-of-control juvenile at Oasis special education school and helped a driver with a dead battery. Two drivers were ticketed, one for an excessively tinted windshield and the other for driving 96 mph in a 65-mph zone, and two others were warned for equipment violations in traffic stops at Main and 1st St., Main and Elm St., US-56 and Cedar St., and US-56 and Timber Rd.

Saturday — A runaway juvenile at Dollar General was returned to the juvenile’s parents. A crosswalk sign at Main and Freeborn St. was removed after it was run over. A dog loose at Taco’s Food Truck was taken to its owner’s residence in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St. Warnings for speeding and equipment violations were issued after three traffic stops at US-56 and Cedar St. and one at US-56 and Industrial St.

Sunday — Two dogs were reported loose near Burbridge St. Warnings for speeding and equipment violations were issued after traffic stops at Main and Coble Sts., Main and Cedar Sts., and US-56 and Timber Rd.
