Record setting season ends for Wildcat track
Four records set for junior high season
The Marion Middle School track team closed out its season May 8, competing in the Heart of America League Meet at Moundridge.
Four league champions were crowned, all amidst setting new school records to close out their junior high careers.
Distance specialist Heidi Grimmett has been on a tear all season, owning all three records for the 800, 1600, and 3200.
She capped her day setting a new record in the 1600 with a meet- and school-best time of 5:37.75.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Jayden May’s time of 17.13 left her the one to beat for years to come.
Brooklyn Riddle left her name in the record book, throwing the discus 93 feet, 9 inches, to close out the girls’ competition.
For the boys, Campbell Winter’s 9’ 3” pole vault should set him up for a potentially successful high school career.
The record-setting Wildcats should give Warrior track coach Grant Thierolf a strong incoming freshmen class in 2019.
