STEM trailer comes to Centre

Staff writer

Centre students were able to gain hands-on experience with sophisticated tools Friday when Wichita State’s mobile learning lab visited their school.

The lab provided stations for virtual welding and commercial painting as well as sheet metal riveting.

A classroom inside Centre was set up with 3-D computers. Students used special glasses to see the screen in 3-D effect and conducted gravity and physics experiments.

The Future Maker Mobile Learning Lab was created by WSU Technical College and Goodwill Industries of Kansas to stimulate interest in STEM careers.

Director Shea Zuckerman told students they can take college classes in high school and jump-start a high-earning career.
