Teacher conduct probed
Staff writer
A Peabody-Burns teacher has been suspended pending an investigation into allegations of misconduct.
Superintendent Antoinette Root sent an email last week informing parents.
The district received a report of possible inappropriate conduct by a junior/senior high school teacher, Root said in the email. The teacher has been removed from duty while allegations are investigated.
The district is arranging a long-term substitute to minimize disruption to students’ schedules, she said.
The district is not releasing names or details.
“Nothing matters more than the safety and wellbeing of every student in our care,” Root said. “As I’m sure you understand, confidentiality laws prevent me from sharing any details about a report involving a USD 398 employee or student.”
Undersheriff Larry Starkey confirmed that the district reported the matter to the sheriff’s office and is cooperating with law enforcement.
He would not release additional information “just yet,” he said.
No potential charges have been announced.
