Texas singer to perform for library summer program

Libraries usually are quiet places, but Marion City Library will be sponsoring Will Parker, a Texas-based singer and songwriter who encourages singing, dancing, high-fiving, and improvisation in his performances.

Parker will perform at 10 a.m. July 16 in the Marion Community Center ballroom.

“We always have performers contacting us about summer programs,” librarian Janet Marler said. “We’ve done this for about 18 years. Every summer we have an entertainer come in.”

In the past, the library has been host for magic shows, ventriloquism, juggling, and other forms of youth entertainment.

Anticipation amongst library-goers is already high according to Marler.

“We always have a huge crowd at the ballroom and I’m expecting the same thing this year,” Marler said.

Admission is free for both children and adults.
