Cross country team running toward state

Staff writer

Cross country coach Robert Haude is relying on the strength of his upperclassmen runners to push the team’s beginning runners to run harder and faster.

“My initial takeaways are that I have a variety of ability levels,” Haude said. “A strength of the team is that we have a strong group of upperclass runners. They have lots of experience. A weakness for the team is that we have beginning runners, so maintaining a high quality workout each day is a challenge.”

Runners to watch this season include Millie Sechrist, Caleb Rempel, Tucker Moss, Orin Blecha, and Abigail Drigger, Haude said.

“I do not have any returning state runners,” he said. “It will be a challenge that I look forward to getting our runners back in the state meet.”

Haude said the team is upbeat and positive with a great team dynamic.

“My goals for each runner are to compete each day to meet their race time goal,” he said.
