SENIOR CENTER:   Volunteer cooks lend helping hand

Marion Senior Center

Marion Senior Center has found a new cook, if only temporarily. CJ Vanderzanden and his daughter Kimberly are cooking until someone is hired.

Harlow Warneke was called on June 7 to grill hamburgers, and Teresa Enck assisted in the kitchen.

Warneke was back June 12 for his scheduled grilled burger day, and baked beans were served thanks to Marion National Bank.

The Bluestem Art Guild will have an art display at the center through 5 p.m. each day, Monday to June 28. Madonna Schafers will talk about the guild June 26.

A makeup meal is scheduled for noon June 22 with Warneke’s grilled burgers, baked beans, potato salad, and watermelon. The meal is to make up for one of the days the center was closed because of bad weather.
