Warriors begin to peak at league run

The Warriors put up a good fight Thursday at the Heart of American cross-country meet in Inman, with Emily Hague placing in the top 10 and 10 runners breaking personal records.

“I think it is safe to say that our runners are now peaking,” coach Dmitry Bucklin said.

Hague placed eighth in a varsity girls’ 5K race with a personal best time of 22 minutes, 10 seconds.

Colin Williams placed 21st in a boys’ 5K race at 18:41.

All other high school girls and boys beat personal records.

Seventh grade girls’ runner Heidi Grimmett won a middle school mile run.

Boys and girls ran together, Bucklin said. Grimmett took first among girls and overall. Seventh grade boys’ runner Cross Brown took first among boys and second overall. David Sawyer took second in a eighth grade boys’ 2-mile race and Colton Boudreaux was third.
