Bruce Skiles has sold his chiropractic equipment and office at 410 E. Main St. in Marion to Paul and Heather Fay of Kansas City.

Being caught with more than five walleyes in a boat usually is a sure-fire way to get a ticket for violating state fishing regulations, but Craig Johnson got off scot-free Thursday even though he had far more than five. How many more? About 1.7 million. Johnson, a biologist with Kansas Wildlife, Parks and Tourism fishery in Pratt was conducting Marion Reservoir’s first replenishment of the popular sport fish since 1993.

After just more than seven months of selling groceries and handmade baked goods, Flint Hills Market and Bakery emptied its shelves Thursday and closed its doors in downtown Florence. Owner Jenny Lee cited personal reasons, not a financial decision, as the reason for the closure. She and her sister, Catie Zurcher, donated more than 8,300 pounds of food to Marion County Food Bank and Resource Center.
