Phone calls for pupils at the high school building have become so frequent that it will be necessary to enforce a rule that pupils will be called only in cases of necessity, and the person in charge at the office will be the judge as to whether the case is one of necessity. The interruption caused by calling pupils from classes to answer phone calls is very undesirable.

Miss August Pope won second prize at the state fair last week for a handmade shirtwaist trimmed in tatting.

There has been considerable misapprehension concerning the matter of the closing hour for stores Saturday evening.

The only purpose of the movement, started by one of the Sunday schools in town, was to see whether it would be possible to fix some reasonable hour for closing.

A custom has grown up of keeping open until 11 or in many instances until midnight.

Harry Rogers opened his picture show last night in the Rogers Building at the west end of Main St.

Henry Allen, the Progressive Party candidate for governor, will be in Marion at 5 p.m. Friday. He is one of the finest public speakers in Kansas and should be greeted by a large crowd.

The Dr. Smith house is coming along fine. Whoever built that foundation has reason to be proud. It is one of the nicest looking pieces of work in town.
