Volunteers will gather Friday evening in Marion Elementary School’s kitchen to make 1,000 bierocks to sell Saturday at Art in the Park as a fundraiser for the Marion High School Booster Club.
A balanced running game continues to be an integral part of Marion Warrior football. On Friday night, senior Drew Maddox wowed the Warrior crowd with a 95-yard kick return for a touchdown. However, the Warriors came up short in the game against Collegiate, losing 21-14.
Emergency medical technicians Gene Winkler of Marion and Rod Bolstad of Hillsboro retired Sept. 1 — Winkler after 37 years, Bolstad after 26.
Centre High School’s fall homecoming candidates are Shelby Deines, Alex Hajek, Jacob Jennings, Josie Peterson, Carlye Simons, and Quentin Wacker. Coronation will be Friday at Cougar Field.
Forrest Kelsey, 711 S. Coble St., Marion, shows a petunia that he and his wife, Bea, purchased this spring. The plant is in a 12-inch pot and has grown probably 8 to 10 times bigger than it was when purchased.
