Stacey Collett, Gene Winkler, Bill Holdeman, and Jerry Kline were elected Tuesday to Marion City Council. Residents also approved a bond issue to construct a gymnasium, indoor swimming pool, and fine arts center.
Marion High School athlete Casey Nelson was injured Monday in a pole vault accident during track practice at Warrior Stadium. He suffered a severe head injury. His condition is unknown at press time.
Members of the community recognized local physicians on National Doctor’s Day. Appreciation was shown to nurse practitioner Ruth Reed, general practitioners Kim Hall and Don Hodson, and surgeon Stephen Cranston.
Upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations announced this week are those of John and Marjory (Collett) Talbott of Halstead and Velber and Donna (Pankratz) Bevan of Hutchinson.
Nowak Construction employees are pictured demolishing vacant houses on several Pilsen lots. A retreat and Father Emil Kapaun museum will be established at the site by Father Kapaun Guild of Wichita.
A tornado touched down Thursday afternoon west of Durham wreaking havoc with two farmsteads.
