Lisa the elephant is pictured as she uses her prehensile nose to pluck carrot chunks from hands of Marion Elementary School children. The elephant was serving as advance man for King Royal Brothers Circus, which is in Marion for performances on the grounds of Marion Municipal Airport.

Ethan Good, a junior at Marion High School, has been selected as student of the month. His parents are JoAnn and Bob Good of rural Marion. After graduation, Ethan plans to attend a four-year college and pursue studies in mechanical engineering.

Centre High School volleyball coach Yvonne Burhoop and players Emily Belton, Kelli Peterson, and Melissa Vinduska keep a close eye on a game Friday in Hays. The Cougars ended their season at state and were unable to battle their way into the semi-finals.

New participants outlining their buildings with clear Christmas lights so far this season are Marion Hometown Foods, Marion Christian Church, Holy Family Parish, Pizza Hut, Marion Motor Center, Trace of Copper, and the Mike and Judy Powers’s home.
