Chad Unruh of Goessel Middle School won the Marion County spelling bee Feb. 8 and will represent the county April 1 at a statewide bee in Topeka.

Josh Powers, Marion, was second. Steven Waner of Marion received the Maude Thompson award given to the third-place finisher.

An annual women’s bowling tournament concluded this weekend at MarBowl Lanes. Winners were the HRK team, Paula Wyss and Julie Searles in doubles, Pat Kinning in singles, and Gloria Seifert in all events.

Staff Sergeant James C. Schlehuber of the Air National Guard has graduated from an aerospace ground equipment mechanic course at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas. His parents are Charles R. Schlehuber of Marion and Nancy L. Lalouette of Cedar Point.

Brad Druse and Rebecca Collett were recognized Friday as king and queen of courts at Marion High School. Brad’s parents are Bud and Norma Druse; Rebecca’s are Stacey and Carla Collett.
