Marion County commissioners approved a proposal Monday to remove a small stone-arch bridge southwest of Marion and replace it with a larger, modern bridge. As many of the cut stones as possible will be saved, perhaps for use in projects at the county lake.
Kansas Attorney General Carla Stovall will be Marion High School’s commencement speaker at 4 p.m. Sunday. A total of 44 graduates are expected to participate. Stovall is a 1975 graduate of MHS and daughter of Carl and Juanita Stovall of Marion.
Members of Brownie Troop 59 have achieved coveted “honor troop” status. The 18 girls in the troop include Chelsi and Jessica Carlson, Adrienne Chamberland, Shelia Goepfert, Jill Hannaford, Samantha Hett, Kendra Holub, Lena O’Connor, Amy Park, Jenna Parli, Molly Rhodes, Amber and Misti Richmond, Ranell Schroeder, Rose Taylor, LeAnn Thomas, Katie Whitaker, and Briana Vogel.
