Kim Hall is the newest physician at St. Luke Family Practice Clinic in Marion. Her arrival culminates a long search by both St. Luke Hospital, which wanted just the right physician, and Hall, who wanted just the right job.

An ice cream social and open house is set for April 28. Hall will have her first official day on the job April 29.

Elise Matz, a fifth-grader at Hillsboro Elementary School, will receive a first-place award today in the 1996 Arbor Day poster contest. She will receive a framed copy of her poster and a $100 savings bond.

The local Shelter Insurance agency is celebrating 33 years in Marion as part of the parent company’s 50th anniversary. Agent Feebie Holdeman will sponsor a daylong reception April 26.

Kelley Hett has been selected student of the month by Marion High School faculty. She plans to attend Butler County Community College for two years and then transfer to Emporia State University, where she will major in elementary education and early childhood special education.

Marion Chamber of Commerce president Matt Classen was host for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday at the official grand opening of Marion Hardware.

The store is owned by Tom and Laurie Koslowsky and Ken and Carla Koslowsky, who also own a True Value store at Hillsboro.

Customers were treated to a variety of in-store specials as well as hot dogs, soft drinks, and freshly popped popcorn grown at Canton.
