It’s “Happy Birthday” time for Marion Cablevision. To celebrate, the city is offering free installation.
A full-page article in this issue tells the story of the Hedstrom family, who came to America from Sweden in 1880 and settled in Kansas, traveling here on one of the earliest wagon trains to venture over the Santa Fe Trail.
Two plays will be presented June 22 and 23 on the Richard Brodhead Memorial Stage on Luta Creek by the Mud Creek Company, a drama group of the Marion Community Arts Council.
Teresa Costello was declared all-university champion in four events at the Kansas State University intramural track and field meet. She took first in the women’s’ 440-yard dash, mile run, and 880 relay and third in the mile relay. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Costello.
Seven veterans of the intelligence and reconnaissance platoon, 143rd Infantry Regiment, 36th Division came from all across the nation last week and gathered at the home of fellow veteran Leo Sharenberg for a reunion to reminisce about the “Big War.”
