Marion County Courthouse and Marion’s Hill School have been placed on the National Register of Historical Places, according to information received this week from Congressman Garner Shriver.

The Hill School was constructed in 1873; the courthouse, in 1906. Both are examples of stalwart stone architecture.

More than 500 horses, covered wagons, buggies, carts, antique cars, floats, bicycles, and marching bands made a very impressive sight Saturday as a rodeo parade wound its way from Swope Park in Cottonwood Falls to rodeo grounds in Strong City.

Sergeant Jack Adams, formerly of Marion, will graduate Thursday from Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville. Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Adams, was one of 59 law enforcement officers from throughout the nation who took the course.

Featured in this week’s personality profile is Helen Loveless, retired physical therapist now living at Marion County Lake.
