Margene Savage, a talented, dark-haired, 19-year-old beauty from Florence, was crowned Miss Kansas Saturday night in Pratt. A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Savage of Florence, she will represent Kansas at the Miss America pageant in early September in Atlantic City.

Marion Rexall Pharmacy is busy this week moving into new quarters half a block west of their present location. The move will not be complete until the end of next week, proprietor W.G. “Jerry” Higgins estimates.

A fine new floating fishing dock at the Marion County Lake has been completed and will officially open for operation Saturday, superintendent John Waner says. The dock was built by Ben Schlagel of Wichita and is leased to the county.

A group of Marion Girl Scouts hiked via country roads Saturday from Marion to Hillsboro. The group included Tammy Case, Cathy Costello, Susan Hansen, Jan Herrick, Beverly Hoch, Janice Jantz, Susan Marler, and Kathy Winter.
