Making its first public appearance at union Good Friday services will be the unique bell choir of the Evangelical United Brethren Church.

Members of the choir are Shelley Batt, Diana Franklin, Brenda Helmer, Shirley Helmer, Anita Hett, Janice Jantz, Bryce Ollenberger, Terry Plenert, Pamela Slusser, and Gary Wiens.

The bells were given to the church by Edward Good in memory of his mother, Mrs. J.E. Good.

Sharon Loewen, Hillsboro eighth grader, took first in the county spelling bee Thursday. Second place went to Nancy Smith of Lincolnville. Bryce Ollenberger, Marion, was third.

Marion High School’s four-member golf team, coached by Chuck Norris, took first Saturday at a Kingman invitational. The team is composed of Neil Colle, George Jackson, Jim Magee, and Mike Wood. Jackson was medalist with a four-under-par 68.

Easter specials at Al and Dan’s Food Market include boneless, fully cooked Cudahy Bar-S or Swift’s Premium hostess ham, 79 cents a pound, and Fanestil fully cooked smoked ham, 10-to-12-pound average, whole ham, 47 cents a pound, and shank half, 45 cents a pound.
