The exceptionally large number of residence moves following the flood in Marion and Florence has caused the Register of Deeds office to be extra busy these days. There also have been many changes in employees at various businesses. They are too numerous to mention.

Marion Hardware, owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Al Bernhardt, has been granted the franchise for General Electric appliances in Marion, according to an announcement made this week.

Roger Hannaford, Bob Reinke, Jimmy Garrison, and Kerns Allen, who left last Wednesday following an army enlistment, are temporarily at Camp Crowder, Missouri

Dave Greenemeyer has announced he will re-open the Marion Bakery in the near future with a full line of pastries and other bakery products. He will take over the business from E. R. “Dick” Baker, who has decided not to reopen after the July flood.

Fifty-one players are out for football this year. Coach “Irish” Ireland is non-committal at this stage of the game about the football team’s prospects, but says a number of bright stars from last years’ championship team are back, and a good number of younger players are showing growth and improvement.

Mr. and Mrs. George Baxter attended the national Flying Farmers convention Aug. 26-29 at Fort Worth, Texas. They flew side by side with friends from Valley Center and stopped at Oklahoma City for lunch en route to the convention.
