Proposed consolidation of four high school districts in the north part of the county will be the decision of citizens of those districts at a special election in each district April 30.

John Waner officially was installed as superintendent of Marion County Park and Lake this week.

Marion High School’s one-act play, “The Last Curtain,” which has won highest ratings at league and district meets, was taken to the state speech and drama festival Saturday at Lawrence and again came away with top honors, a No. 1 rating. Cast of the play included Dick Hoch, Carmen Siebert, Bruce Wingerd, Roma Collett, David Montgomery, and DeLoris Reed.

Members of the Antelope school and their teacher, Mrs. Earl Hoffman, visited a number of places Thursday morning in Marion. The pupils are Sandra, Bill, Mack and Larry Bowyer, Joyce and Virginia Dody, Harvey and Frances Sanders, and Bob and Mar Sue Weathers.

Jackson’s, popular local store featuring men and boy’s clothing, shoes, and luggage, has moved to its new location in the former J.C. Penney building.

Captain John R. Wheeler, son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wheeler, is stationed at Frankfurt, Germany. He is an expert on jumping horses. He will be one of the Army personnel to officially greet members of the American Olympic team of jumpers at Frankfurt this week.
