Another fine city improvement is underway this week with the rocking of approximately 25 blocks of alleys throughout the town. Most of the work is being done on the hill in alleys along the route of the city sanitary service truck.
Schroeder Produce and Oil Co. will celebrate its 25th anniversary in Marion with an open house Oct. 1 at its new building just north of the Main St. bridge at the corner of Main and 5th Sts.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bartel have leased the Conoco service station at the corner of Main and Freeborn Sts. from Henry Metzler, it was announced this week.
“Economy Plus” Kroger values this week include a baby beef sale. Sirloin, T-bone, and club steaks are listed for 69 cents a pound; round steak, 79 cents; chuck roast, 49 cents; stew meat and short ribs, 29 cents; smoked Ham (whole or shank half), 49 cents; and sliced bacon, 49 cents.
Cecil Rotz, manager and owner of Rotz Furniture stores in Marion and Florence, announced this week that he would close his Marion business.
