Pictured is the westernmost block of Hudson St., not too long ago a deep gully. No longer is Elm a dead-end street. Hudson St. has been created by a longtime process of the city of filling the gully with leaves, dirt, and rubbish from city streets. Now it is hard and settled and an addition to the city streets.

Suzanne Wheeler soon will leave for Billing, Montana, where she will serve an internship in medical technology at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wheeler.

A special event Sunday at the Presbyterian Church honored three women who have been members for more than 50 years. They are Ella Freeland, who joined in 1889; Mary Alexander, who joined in 1893; and Emma Case, who joined in 1898.

Penney’s month-end “clearaway” offers women’s dress shoes, $2 a paid; men’s sheep lined coat, $8; men’s flannel shirts, $2; toddlers’ dresses, $1 to $2; men’s corduroy pants, $2; and many more items at reduced prices.

Nancy Colburn, whose marriage to Harris Seed will take place next Wednesday, was complimented Wednesday evening at a dinner and linen shower at the city building.
