Pictured is the new center on N. Coble St. of maintenance operations for the Marion County highway department. It is a bright, modern, well-arranged building that has become a factor in the smooth, economical operation of county equipment.
“Dunn and Broadstreet” musical entertainers will put on a free show March 24 at the city building auditorium.
Members of the group are Dave Bowers, Berle Broadstreet, Bob Delk, Eddie Druse, Max Dunn, Elmer Hanneman, Lois Kelsey, Ronald Kieferle, Kenneth Lucas, Etta Richmond, Harold Taylor, and Betty Tiemeier.
The newspaper, this week received an interesting letter from chaplain Captain Emil J. Kapaun in Japan. In ordering the paper, he says, “As you know, once a fellow is a long way from home, he appreciates even more the news that takes place in his old home.”
E.H. Johnson, Peabody general practitioner for 50 years, was honored yesterday when an estimated 1,500 friends gathered at the high school in celebration of his long-time service to the community. Many members of the group were wearing lapel buttons reading, “I am a Dr. Johnson baby.”
