These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Western US-56/K-15 intersection

Samuel D. Herrel, 17, rural Hillsboro, spun a 1987 Ford F-150 after driving off the roadway while attempting to merge from K-15 onto US-56.

The pickup, owned by Kurt Herrel of the same address, rolled onto its passenger side, damaging its windshield and roof as well as the side. It was towed.

Deputy Aaron Christner’s report blamed the accident on avoidance or evasive action by the driver, who was listed as possibly injured but was not taken to a hospital.

No citations were issued.

Remington Rd. north of 280th Rd.

Randall L. Svitak, 66, Pilsen, hit a deer with his 2013 Chevrolet Silverado at 1:02 p.m. Aug. 24.

170th Rd. east of Quail Creek Rd.

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train going 24 mph clipped the left rear of a 2021 Chevrolet Colorado that slid on gravel after driver and owner Tobias L. Mosiman, 48, who lives nearby, tried to accelerate across a crossing at 4:35 p.m. Aug. 25.

Deputy Kaylan Miles’s report blamed the accident on inattentive driving, but no citations were issued.

The train was being operated by Justin C. Murray, 34, and Austin M. Seely, also 34, of Kansas City, Kansas.

US-77 north of 90th Rd.

A 2008 Dodge Charger owned and driven by Sara J. Sosme, 24, Burns, hit and killed at 8:53 p.m. Aug. 25 a wandering red calf owned by Kevin E. Koehn of Inman.

Baby Lilly, 4-year-old Andres, and 5-year-old Valeria Sosme of the same address were passengers.
