These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

SHERIFF

US-77/56/K-15 roundabout

Montana S. Hayes, 19, Lincolnville, lost traction while attempting to brake on icy roads at 2:55 a.m. Jan. 1 and drove a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix over a curb and into the center of the roundabout.

A report by deputy Kaylan Miles blamed the accident on driving too fast for conditions on icy or slushy roads during sleet or freezing rain. No tickets were issued.

The car, owned by Frederick E. Hayes of the same address, was disabled but removed by the owner without calling a tow truck.

K-15 south of 250th Rd.

Fernando J. Gomez-Flores, 26, Coffeyville, lost control of his 2005 Chevrolet Classic on icy roads at 3:24 a.m. Jan. 1 and slid off into a bridge guardrail on the right side of the road.

Deputy Joshua Meliza’s blamed the accident on driving too fast for conditions on icy or slushy roads during sleet or freezing rain. No tickets were issued.

Gomez-Flores’s car was towed.

Indigo Rd. north of 120th Rd.

William C. Holt, 23, Hillsboro, lost control of a 2009 Nissan Xterra on icy roads at 8 p.m. Jan. 1 and crashed it into a road sign on the left side of the road.

Miles’s report blamed the accident on driving too fast for conditions on icy or slushy roads during snowy weather. No tickets were issued.

The truck, owned by Terry G. Holt of the same address, sustained damage but was functional after the crash.

HILLSBORO

614 N. Ash St.

David Herbel, 66, rural Marion, backed his 2005 Lincoln Town Car into a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado being driven at 3:20 p.m. Jan. 3 in Midway Motors’ parking lot by Keith Evanoff, 67, Tampa.

Damage was reported to the right rear bumper of Herbel’s car and to the right side doors of the pickup, owned by Jane Valentine of the same Tampa address.

Grand Ave. west of Ash St.

On snow-slick streets at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, Callie R. Meisinger, 21, Hillsboro, slid a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee into the rear of a stopped 1999 Ford Ranger driven by Jude R. Bennett, 17, Hillsboro.

Officer John T. Huebert’s report stated that Meisinger, driving too fast for conditions, attempted to avoid Bennett’s truck, which was stopped at a stop sign, by steering to the right but was unable to avoid a glancing collision.

Damage to both vehicles was characterized as minor scuffs with no denting. The Jeep is owned by Mike B. Meisinger; the pickup, by Russell B. Bennett. Both reside at the same addresses as the vehicles’ drivers.

Kenzie P. Meisinger, 14, also of the Jeep driver’s address, was a passenger in the Jeep. No injuries were reported, nor were any citations issued. The vehicles had been removed from traffic before police arrived.
