These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-56/77 south of 220th Rd.

Tabatha M. Rose, 28, Lincolnville, hit a deer at 7 p.m. May 19 with her 2000 Buick LeSabre, according to a report released Friday.

The car, owned by Amy M. Rose of the same address, sustained disabling damage to its front third and undercarriage and was towed.

US-50 east of Kanza Rd.

Susan K. Ring, 57, rural Burdick, hit a deer at 6:14 a.m. May 21 with her 2018 Toyota RAV4, which sustained disabling damage to its left front and was towed.

Indigo Rd. north of 100th Rd.

Justin M. Derome, 46, Newton, hit a deer at 4:45 a.m. May 22 with his 1996 Chevrolet 1500, which remained drivable with damage to its front and hood.

US-56 east of K-168

Harlee R. Small, 22, Minneapolis, Kansas, fell asleep while driving at 6:17 a.m. May 22.

Her eastbound 2017 Nissan Pathfinder crossed the centerline and brushed against a westbound 2011 Ford Escape owned and driven by Nicole L. Herzet, 32, Marion.

The vehicles’ mirrors hit as Herzet attempted to maneuver out of the way. Damage was characterized as minor.

Eleanor M. Walls, 27, of a different Marion address was a passenger in Herzet’s car.

No tickets were issued.

US-56 east of K-15 / Holly Rd.

Timothy J. Cassidy, 42, Hillsboro, hit a deer at 7:34 a.m. May 22 with his 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, which sustained disabling damage to its front, left, hood, windshield, and undercarriage and was towed.

60th Rd. west of Nighthawk Rd.

Stacy A. Sattler, 18, Peabody, hit a deer at 9:13 p.m. May 22 with her 2019 Ford Fusion, owned by Edward H. Sattler of the same address.

Esperanza M. Solis, 17, rural Peabody, was a passenger.

The car remained drivable despite damage to its front third, hood, and undercarriage.

US-56 west of K-15 / Holly Rd.

Three people were injured, though all declined to be taken to a hospital, at 10:20 p.m. May 22 when two separate vehicles plowed into an undisclosed number of black cattle in the road.

Jessica L. Stephens, 34, Lawrence, was unable to avoid the cattle in her eastbound 2016 Jeep Compass, which crossed the centerline and ran off the road to the left after striking the cattle.

She and passengers Shedrick J. James, 42, and Malachi K. James, 9, of the same Lawrence address, reported injuries but declined to the taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

Her Jeep sustained disabling damage to its entire front half, including windows, windshield, and undercarriage, and was towed.

After seeing the vehicle in front of him swerve off the roadway, Daniel L. Tucker, 22, Hillsboro, also encountered the cattle.

He swerved his eastbound 2010 Ford Focus, owned by Candy L. Tucker of the same address, but was unable to avoid hitting the cattle.

The car sustained disabling damage to its right front and hood and was towed.

Hillsboro firefighters spent nearly an hour directing traffic and cleaning up debris and animal remains with leaf blowers, brooms, and a loader.

The cattle were owned by Ronald J. Bartel, rural Hillsboro.

PEABODY

US-50 at Nighthawk Rd.

Sixteen-year-old Braxton L. Teer of Peabody stopped his northbound 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 at a stop sign at 3:39 p.m. May 21, didn’t see a westbound 2012 Ford F-150 that was pulling a boat trailer, and drove his Dodge into the Ford’s path.

The force of the collision drove Teer’s Dodge off the road to the left and into a road sign.

Both trucks sustained disabling damage and were towed.

Teer’s Dodge was damaged along its entire left side, rear, and undercarriage.

The Ford, owned and driven by Ronald D. Ekstrom, 69, of Sedgwick, sustained damage to its front half, right rear, and undercarriage.

Both Ekstrom and his passenger, Samuel V. Nichols, 82, of Valley Center, reported possible injuries after airbags deployed and were checked by ambulance attendants but declined to be taken to a hospital.

No tickets were listed as being issued.
