REPORTED

These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-77 north of 140th Rd.

Cyrillo Garcia, 85, Florence, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license after he tried to pass a dump truck at 11:18 a.m. Jan. 14, and his 2013 Ford C-Max collided with a 2022 Ram 350 that had been trying to pass both Garcia’s car and the truck.

Both vehicles remained drivable after the collision, according to one of five accident reports released Friday, a week and a half after the wreck.

Garcia’s car sustained damage to its left side. The pickup, owned and driven by Emmanuel Abaku, 37, Dallastown, Pennsylvania, was damaged on its right side.

US-77 north of 140th Rd., again

A deer ran into the side of a 2003 Buick LeSabre at 7:15 a.m. Jan. 17, and the car ran off the road to the right.

The Buick, owned by Virgil L. Britton Jr. and driven by Barbara A. Clay, 54, of adjoining Florence addresses, sustained disabling damage to its left side, windshield, and undercarriage and was towed.

Remington Rd. east of 240th Rd.

Timothy L. Richmond, 60, Marion, hit a deer at 11:37 p.m. Jan. 18 with a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe owned by passenger Amy Richmond of the same address.

The sport-utility vehicle remained drivable with damage to its left front and undercarriage.

Nighthawk Rd. at US-50

Braden M.N. Lomibao, 16, Wichita, slid a southbound 2004 Nissan Armada through a stop sign at 4:10 a.m. Jan. 20 on snow-covered Nighthawk Rd. and into a 2019 Ford Edge being driven east on US-50 by owner Ricky L. Depler, 70, rural Peabody.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed. The Nissan, owned by Lowell J.C. Lomibao of the driver’s address, was damaged on its front and right rear. The Ford, in which Linda L. Depler, 72, of the driver’s address was a passenger, was damaged on its right front.

Deputy Caleb Tomlinson’s report blamed the wreck on Lomibao failing to yield. No tickets were reported as being issued.

270th and Xavier Rds.

Passenger Tiffany L. Gobble, 40, Wichita, was taken by ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, after a northbound 2020 Subaru Ascent in which she was riding and a westbound 2012 Chevrolet Silverado collided in snowy weather at 1:45 p.m. Jan. 20.

The Subaru, owned and driven by David G. Gobble, 37, of the same address, was damaged on its right front and was towed. He and passenger Lynneleigh Gobble of the same address, whose age was redacted from the open, public record of the wreck, reportedly were not injured.

The pickup, owned and driven by Ezekiel M. Moore, 21, Council Grove, ran off the road to the right, striking a Flint Hills Rural Electric Cooperative utility pole. The truck remained drivable with damage to its front.

Deputy Caleb Tomlinson’s report says neither driver yielded but blamed the accident on Moore’s failure to yield. No tickets were listed as being issued.

The accident report incorrectly lists the time as being at 1:45 a.m. instead of 1:45 p.m.

HILLSBORO

Ash St. and Grand Ave.

Both drivers were ticketed after a hit-and-run accident at 6:15 p.m. Jan. 19, according to an accident report released Monday.

Chance K.M. Penner, 19, rural Hillsboro, ran a stop sign in an eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Silverado and drove into the side of a northbound 1994 Silverado driven by Joshua Chase, 34, Walton.

Penner was ticketed for allegedly running a stop sign and allegedly providing false information about the wreck.

Chase, who may have been injured but was not taken to a hospital by ambulance, was ticketed for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident involving more than $1,000 in damages and for allegedly tampering with a required anti-drinking ignition interlock.

A supplemental offense report lists additional potential charges of violating license restrictions against Chase and interference with law enforcement against Penner.

Penner’s pickup, owned by Kent M. Williams of Olsburg, remained drivable with damage to its right front.

Chase’s pickup, owned by Daniel E. Chase of Valley Center, also remained drivable with damage to its left side.
