A suit filed Dec. 5 by Julia Ciero against Hillsboro Community Hospital was transferred June 6 from a limited motion case to a civil case. Ciero, who suffered a fall at the hospital Jan. 1, 2022, claims hospital officials promised to pay medical bills that arose from her fractured arms but did not. She seeks $65,000 plus costs.
HSBC Bank USA, National Association, filed a petition June 10 seeking to foreclose a mortgage on property owned by Darrel and Allison Shults. The bank claims the Shultses borrowed $42,000 from Finance America on June 20, 2005, and guaranteed the loan with a mortgage note. The bank seeks $84,804.03 plus costs and interest and that the debt be held superior to any other debts.
Rochelle and Christopher Johnson filed suit June 3 against Sarah D. Madgwick. The Johnsons seek more than $75,000 for injuries they claim were caused by Madgwick having negligently operated a vehicle that collided with theirs Oct. 28. According to a news story at the time, Madgwick fell asleep at the wheel and her vehicle struck the Johnsons’ pickup, causing it to careen into two other vehicles. Four people had to be extracted from the vehicles.
