Dennis Wedel

Services for Dennis Dean Wedel, 76, who died Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, at United Center Mennonite Church, rural Galva.

Inurnment with military honors will follow at Canton Township Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the church.

Born Aug 19, 1948, in McPherson, he started his education at Lily School, moved to Liberty School, and finished elementary school at United Center School.

He went to high school at Galva and attended Central Christian College for two years before being drafted. After being drafted, he joined the Marines and was promoted to lance corporal.

After his tour of duty, he came back to his hometown and his future wife, Linda Havlik. They were married May 5, 1973.

She survives along with children Laura Sandbo and husband Matt; Emily Allen and husband Blake; Koren Farrington and husband Chris; and Nick Wedel and wife Katie; nine grandchildren, plus one on the way; brother Dale Wedel; sisters Rita Ek, Debbie Heitzenrater and husband Bill, and Karla Jones and husband Galen; and sister-in-law, Gail Wedel.

Parents Irby and Lucile Wedel and brother Charlie Wedel preceded him in death.
