Districts schedule kindergarten enrollment

School districts are planning for the coming year’s crop of preschool and kindergarten students.
Hillsboro
Hillsboro school district plans a come-and-go kindergarten open house 4 to 6 p.m. March 27.
The open house will allow 2025-2026 kindergartners to meet teachers, look over the school, and see where their classroom will be.
Hillsboro offers all-day kindergarten. Children enrolling must be 5 years old by Aug. 31.
Parents interested in preschool must call the elementary school. Hillsboro has preschool for 3- and 4-year-olds. It offers a half-day option and an all-day option.
New requirements apply for out-of-district students, so parents whose children live in a different school district are being asked to call the school at (620) 947-3184.
Marion
Kindergarten roundup is scheduled for March 24 at Marion Elementary School.
Children must be 5 years of age by Aug. 31 to enroll.
Parents who want to enroll kindergartners for the fall are being asked to call Natalie Hett at (620) 382-3771 and set up a time.
Centre
Centre will sponsor a kindergarten and preschool open house 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 11.
Students will visit the classroom and meet the teacher.
Kindergartners must be 5 years old and preschoolers must be 4 years old by Aug. 31 to enroll.
Kindergarten is all-day and preschool is all-day with a half-day option.
Parents whose children live out of district must complete a form, which can be done the day of the open house.

Peabody-Burns
Kindergarten enrollment will be Aug. 4 during the district’s regular enrollment.
Kindergarten classes are all-day and preschoolers ages 3 or 4 by Aug. 31 have the option of morning only, afternoon only, or all-day classes.
Screening for preschool and kindergarten students will be scheduled at enrollment.
Students must be the appropriate age by Aug. 31.
Out-of-district enrollment opened in January. Cutoff is in June.
Classes will begin Aug. 13.

Parents interested in enrolling kindergartners at Goessel Elementary should contact the school at (620) 367-8118 to make an appointment for an April 22 screening. The district offers morning and afternoon preschool. The district said flyers already have been sent to area parents.
