No Trump
To the editor:
Marion, Kansas, is fortunate to have the Record.
Eric Meyer’s March 25 editorial (“Are we making American grating again?”) is a reflection of what level-headed Americans have in their hearts and minds.
Our founding fathers wrote a Constitution establishing a government whose laws profess said government will serve the majority of its residents, not a few self-serving so-called elitists.
Our government should reflect the will of that majority and allow its denizens opportunity to promote its well-being and security, the most good for the most people.
A March 18 letter (“Illegal arrests”) concerning the Kansas Legislature aligning state laws with Donald Trump’s ICE’s unconstitutional antics brought that organization’s Minneapolis brutalities to the fore.
My south Texas border hometown of approximately 260,000 population is about 95% ethnic Mexican American, and ICE has a time of it with its racial profiling and often unjustifiable violent tactics.
Locally, people who object to such tyrannical acts, including me, have been referred to as “Trump haters.”
This is farthest from the truth concerning me, as I consider myself a peace monger.
If memory serves me right, my last act of violence was an incident of fisticuffs with a fellow 12-year-old altar boy in 1960. Sixty-six years later, we laugh about the good old days. Juan and I have remained good friends since.
I do not hate Trump. Hate is too strong a negative term. Being the same age as Donny, I fantasize about his resignation, stopping pushing our allies away, and desisting in destruction of Americans’ White House, and just wish he go away to enjoy playing golf the rest of his life.
