REPORTED

These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Criminal damage, leaving scene of accident

A hit-and-run driver damaged three mailboxes between 8 and 8:30 a.m. Aug. 31 near Valley Rd. and Lakeshore Dr. at Marion County Lake.

Total damage to mailboxes owned by Cara L. Stockdale, Anita L. Seacat, and Karyn S. Peterson was estimated at $300, according to a report released Friday.

Criminal damage

Thomas W. Britain, 67, rural Florence, reported that his “Eyesore of the Flint Hills” sign at US-50 and Sunflower Rd. sustained $75 in damage between Aug. 30 and Sept. 3.

Britain has reported damage to the sign at least three other times this year — in January, in May, and in early August.

MARION

Criminal damage

Ronnie P. Winters, 29, Marion, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to property after he allegedly damaged the door of a truck owned by live-in girlfriend Linda R. Ramirez, 36, during an altercation at 7:01 p.m. Aug. 29 outside their rented residence in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St., according to a report released Monday.

Booked into Marion County Jail, Winters, previously jailed Feb. 13, 2023, on suspicion of battery, was released 18 hours later after posting a $1,000 bond pending a court appearance today.

Appraisal records indicate the residence is owned by Marion County Lake resident Richard P. Blount.

Possession of stimulants, marijuana, drug paraphernalia

A white powder that tested positive for cocaine, 16 items of drug paraphernalia, and 45 grams of green vegetation identified as marijuana were discovered after traffic stop at 5:43 p.m. Sept. 3 near Main St. and Eastmoor Dr.

Officer Dustin Woodford stopped a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 for having an obscured license plate.

Interim chief Zach Hudlin and canine officer Aaron Slater joined him, and Slater’s drug-sniffing dog, Blue, provided probable cause for the vehicle to be searched.

Loretta K. Bittinger, 50, Wiley Ford, West Virginia, was arrested on suspicion of possessing stimulants, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

She was booked into Marion County Jail and released 20 hours later after posting a $5,000 bond pending a court appearance Tuesday.

The pickup was released to a second licensed driver, identified as Mary M. Keplinger, 55, of a different Wiley Ford address.

Aggravated battery, criminal threat, domestic battery, child endangerment

Nicholas A. Bowen, 38, was arrested on multiple charges after an alcohol-fueled altercation at 8:04 p.m. Saturday in Bown-Corby Apartments’ parking lot.

Bowen allegedly struck Bown-Corby neighbor Noah E. Slater, 21, on his face, dislocating Slater’s jaw, and threatened to kill one of three law enforcement officers — a city patrolman and two sheriff’s deputies — who responded to the incident.

According to officer Dustin Woodford’s report, Bowen’s year-old child was nearby when Bowen struck his live-in girlfriend, Kalleigh M. Saenze, 21, twice while attempting to hit Slater.

The report states that multiple people called 911 because Bowen was “causing alarm in the community.”

Bowen, previously jailed Dec. 4 on suspicion of soliciting aggravated domestic battery, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery, domestic battery, making a criminal threat, endangering a child, and disorderly conduct.

Initially held in lieu of a $10,000 bond, he was released Monday after posting a reduced $5,000 bond pend
