Old restaurant may become one again

The former Country Lakes Café building at 202 E. Main St. once again may become a restaurant, according to the building’s new owner.
Owner Corrina Webber, who operates under the corporate name Rent2Own LLC in Wichita, is exploring putting apartments on the top floor and commercial space on the bottom floor, possibly marketing the bottom floor to be operated by a restaurant, she said Tuesday
At Monday night’s City Council meeting, contractor Rodney Moore, owner of BTR Construction in Wichita, said he and Webber planned to complete renovation on the building “in short order.”
“We have big plans for this project,” Moore said.
Moore said asbestos found in the building and roof leaks would be addressed first.
After that, Webber will decide what direction to take for renovations.
“Right now we’re just trying to get all the information gathered and decide what we will do with it,” Webber said.
“We did just close late last week,” Moore said.
Mayor Mike Powers replied, “Congratulations on buying the condemned property.”
Webber’s main business is renovating homes for people who want to buy them.
“It’s for people who want to get into home ownership but can’t,” Webber said. “It’s a great program, and I’m really proud of it.”
She hopes to get community input on how Marion residents would like to see the building used.
“I definitely want to hear from the community on what they want,” Webber said. “I really am excited to be part of Marion.”
