One of three county boys teams advance to the second round of the playoffs with two other teams. With Marion and Hillsboro waiting to play their first-round games Friday, Peabody-Burns already has advanced to the second round of state playoffs.
The Warriors dominated Southern Coffey County at home Monday night, winning 66-39.
Jameson Miles joined the 1,000-point for his high school career. He also set a school single-game record, scoring 37 of the team’s points and eclipsing a record that had stood since 2012.
Sixth-seeded Peabody-Burns will be on the road at 2 p.m. Saturday against third-seed Elyria Christian.
Marion
Marion edged out Central Christian Academy on the road Friday night to end the regular season with a 47-46 victory.
“It was a tight battle,” coach Kevin Dasenbrock said. “We handled adversity and came out on top.”
Jackson Howard scored 15 points and pulled five rebounds. Jordy Raymer and Jymer Raymer scored nine each. Isaac Wesner had eight, and Carson Krause scored four with six rebounds.
“I am proud of how we are playing lately,” Dasenbrock said. “Everyone has completely bought in and is playing team basketball.”
The 10th-seeded Warriors will have a 6 p.m. tipoff on the road Friday against seventh-seeded Conway Springs.
“We are excited for the opportunity to travel to Conway,” Dasenbrock said. “We look forward to a good game and will be ready to go.” Dasenbrock said.
Hillsboro
The Trojans ended their regular season with a bang Friday night, beating Nickerson at home, 64-38.
“We finished the regular season on a high note and had one of our best offensive games of the year,” coach Kyle Kroeker said.
