ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Nov. 11 — Three dogs loose at Bomgaars were returned to their owner. Police helped a locked-out driver.
Nov. 12 — A driver was ticketed for having an expired license plate and no insurance in the 400 block of W. B St. Another driver was warned for running a stop sign in the 600 block of N. Ash St. Police talked to a driver who reportedly had been speeding in the 100 block of N. Madison St.
Nov. 13 — Police identified the owner of a recreational vehicle reported as abandoned in Hillsboro Heights.
Thursday — No problems were found in checking an open door in the 300 block of S. Wilson St.
Friday — Police helped a resident deal with a skunk and helped deal with an out-of-control juvenile in the 600 block of S. Washington St.
Saturday — Routine activities.
Sunday — A 47-year-old Hillsboro man was arrested on suspicion of vehicle burglary and criminal trespassing after he was noticed inside a vehicle parked behind a business in the 100 block of S. Main St. A driver was ticketed for having a suspended license and no insurance in the 600 block of S. Ash St.
MARION
Nov. 11 — A telephone scam was reported in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. Property a resident found was turned in via the sheriff’s department. A driver was warned for speeding near Main and Locust Sts.
Nov. 12 — A sign was reported taken from a yard in the 100 block of S. Cedar St. Police helped with an out-of-control juvenile at Marion Elementary School. A driver was ticketed for speeding near Main and Elm Sts.
Nov. 13 — A driver involved in a car-deer accident was referred to the sheriff’s department. A resident reported that an animal got into trash. Drivers were warned for speeding on US-56 near Timber Rd. and near Cedar St.
Thursday — Police contacted the owner of an animal in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St. Drivers were warned for having defective equipment on US-56 near Industrial St. and near Timber Rd. and for speeding in two separate stops on US-56 near Cedar St. After one of the stops, police contacted the sheriff’s department about a possible disturbance involving driver’s mother.
Friday — A telephone scam was reported in the 200 block of N. Freeborn St. A calf ventured out of its pasture near Main St. and Eisenhower Dr. A driver was warned for speeding near Main and Billings Sts.
Saturday — Drivers were warned for having defective equipment near Main and 5th St. and for failing to signal at 3rd and Forest Sts. Police helped sheriff’s deputies who made a traffic stop for an unspecified matter near Main and 3rd St.
Sunday — A 3-year-old reported missing on Billings St. was found at a neighbor’s house. A phone scam was reported in the 400 block of N. Lincoln St. Drivers were warned about an unspecified moving violation near 190th and Uplands Rds. and about an equipment violation in the 1100 block of E. Main St. A report of harassment or stalking in the 1000 block of E. Main St. remains under investigation.
