ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

May 12 — A driver was warned for having no taillights at B and Ash Sts. Police talked to a resident about a civil issue.

May 13 — Police joined in pursuit of a murder and bank robbery suspect west on US-56 and north on I-135. A driver was warned for having no taillights at Ash and D Sts. Police met with residents about a parking complaint and about a civil issue.

May 14 — A dog was reported loose near 3rd, Jefferson, and Madison Sts. An alarm at Dollar General accidentally was activated by a truck driver. A driver was warned for making a J-turn in the 100 block of W. Grand Ave. Police checked on a resident’s welfare and talked to a resident about surveillance cameras at a business.

Thursday — A loose dog was picked up at Tabor College and its owner located. A window screen found on the ground in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. had been removed by a juvenile. Police checked on a suspicious vehicle at Hillsboro Senior Center and investigated a noise complaint in the 400 block of N. Ash St.

Friday — Police talked to residents about a loose dog and about an ongoing civil issue.

Saturday — A driver was warned for speeding at Ash and 2nd Sts. A car reportedly parked improperly at Tabor College was not found. Police talked to a resident about standing by during a civil matter.

Sunday — Police talked to a resident about concerns involving another person.

MARION

May 12 — Police dealt with an out-of-control juvenile at Marion County Special Education Cooperative. A driver was warned for speeding near US-56 and Industrial St.

May 13 — Two juveniles fighting near 2nd and Main Sts. were referred to the county attorney for possible charges; no offense report was released. No problems were found in checking on an alarm at the city shop. A person walking in the road near Main and Santa Fe Sts. was arrested on out-of-county warrants; however, no clearly corresponding arrest is listed on the county jail log.

May 14 — Daniel J. Henry, 34, Marion, was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery, criminal damage to property, and child endangerment after police investigated a disturbance near Country Inn motel 10 hours after Henry was released from jail on his own recognizance for failing to appear in court. No offense report has yet been released in the case. No problems were found in checking on the welfare of a resident of Sunrise Townhomes. Police spoke to two people about possible harassment.

Thursday — A dog reportedly loose in the 400 block of N. 2nd St. was not found. No problems were found with a suspicious package in the 600 block of S. Lincoln St. or in checking on a resident of the 300 block of N. Freeborn St. Drivers were warned for speeding on US-56 near Industrial St. and near Timber Rd. and for having a defective license plate light on US-56 near Cedar St.

Friday — Sarah V. Smith, 46, Marion, allegedly ran a stop sign at Main and Roosevelt Sts. and was arrested on suspicion of fleeing police after she eventually was stopped a little more than a mile away in the 100 block of Jefferson St. No offense report has yet been filed in the case. Other drivers were warned for running a stop sign at Main and 4th Sts. and for having defective tag lights near Main and 5th Sts., near Main and Elm Sts., and near Cedar and Lawrence Sts. Inmates involved in a fight at the county jail were separated before police arrived.

Saturday — A fox reported in the 500 block of N. Coble St. was not found. Property found in the 1000 block of E. Main St. was returned to its owner. Police intervened in a civil matter in the 300 block of N. 3rd St.

Sunday — A downed power line in the 1100 block of E. Main St. was reported to city electric workers. A driver was warned for running a stop sign at Main St. and Eastmoor Dr.
