Swim team places 2nd

Marion’s swim team, including athletes from other county schools, placed second as a team Thursday at Topeka.

“This was a great meet for the girls,” coach Mackenzie Magee said.

“Lots of improvements are being made, and time is being dropped.”

Rylie Hein won the 500 freestyle. Lauryn Vogt won the 100 backstroke. Vogt also won the 200 individual medley. Teammates Tandice Tajchman placed sixth, and Kloe Defiesta placed seventh.

Marion won the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay with a team of Talia Jost, Scarlet Koehn, Gracelyn Just, and Lauryn Vogt.

Koehn placed second in the 200 freestyle. Just placed fourth in a large pool of 50 freestyle.

Marion will compete Tuesday in Newton.
